We’re proud to be a National Wildlife Federation certified wildlife habitat

“It brings us joy to give back to the wildlife in our increasingly developed surroundings, and we hope that the success of our habitat will inspire others to do the same.”

“Our first step toward certification was the realization that our mostly empty 100 ft garden bed along Ridge Pike was the perfect opportunity to display some of the beautiful plants we carry while providing valuable resources for wildlife. We planted a variety of sun-loving, drought-tolerant perennials and herbs, and the bees and butterflies caught on immediately.

As a retail garden center, we strive to have an eco-friendly mindset while serving our customer’s needs. We avoid pesticides and herbicides, control invasive species, and conserve the native trees, shrubs, and grasses on the property that offer food and shelter.

Bird baths, naturally occurring streams, and a rain garden provide water. A pollinator garden - designed and planted by staff member Lindsay Friedenberg - was planted 3 years ago, which has added to the beauty of our store front while serving up food and shelter for local fauna.
